If you decide to attend college someday, you will not be alone. Did you know that every year about 16 million students attend college?
Four-Year and Two-Year Students
Enrollment in two-year colleges has skyrocketed in the past 50 years. Today almost 40 percent of college students attend community colleges.
Residential Students and Commuters
At some colleges, the majority of students live in housing owned and operated by the college. This is true especially at private colleges that require you to attend full time. Living at the college with other students is often considered an important part of the college experience.
Other colleges do not offer college-run housing. At these colleges, students live at home or on their own. They must travel (commute) to and from college each day. This is most often the case at two-year colleges.
