Registration has become more convenient for students. Most colleges offer several different ways to register, both on and off campus. The person in charge of registration is called the registrar.
Try to register as soon as you can. Courses and sections fill up. You may get blocked from taking some courses because of space limitations. The earlier you register, the better your chances will be for getting the courses you want. You will also have more time to find other choices, if needed.
Most colleges have a time period when you can adjust your schedule. During this period, you can add and drop courses. You may be able to switch sections as well, enabling you to have a better schedule or a different instructor. Sometimes space opens up in a course that had been closed. If you are on a waiting list, you may be able to get into that class.
Some colleges run registration on a first-come, first-served basis.Other colleges decide the order in which students can register. Seniors and juniors often register first.Other students may be picked in alphabetical or some other order that is fair to all students over time. Colleges can usually accommodate students with special situations.
