AMERICAN UNIVERSITY2 300x225 American University Social Environment Part (2)Upon graduation, some will become government employees, secret service agents, economists or journalists. The undergraduate student at AU will experience some competition in securing internships in DC. However, they are typically up to the task.

This may entail scouting out internships, making personal contact with professors who may also have other government jobs besides lecturing. AU is for students who like to study democracy in a practical way, such as analyzing a system of ballot collection.

They enjoy visiting historic monuments, partaking in rallies and journalistic events. In the dorms students create a home away from home as they forge relationships by introducing themselves to others on their floor and make friends. Sports at AU don’t monopolize the social scene nor do they define the school spirit.

AU is a Division 1 member of the Patriot’s League. It has no football but the Eagles basketball and volley ball teams are sufficient to keep fans entertained.
